Mike Williams, Counseling Student Intern

Home Mike Williams, Counseling Student Intern
Mike Williams

Greetings, I’m Mike. As a Counseling Student Intern, you can expect a genuine and caring environment where you can process and share your story. I bring a hopeful attitude and give honest feedback. I desire to encourage and challenge you to reach your goals. I am a welcoming person and would be honored to partner with you as we navigate life’s next steps together.

If you are feeling stuck in your situation, school journey, or career goals – I might be a good fit for you.

If you feel alone on your journey, lost, or seeking purpose – I might be a good fit for you.

If you struggle with internal conflict, interpersonal relationships, or experience difficulty regulating your emotions – I might be a good fit for you.

If you are a youth (10+), a young adult, or middle-aged adult, and desire to set goals to make a change in your life – I might be a good fit for you.

Therapy concepts I frequently utilize:

I use a variety of therapy concepts to meet the client’s specific needs. Following are a the therapeutic models and interventions that I use the most ofen:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which includes identifying and challenging distorted thoughts.

Play Therapy which uses creativity and expression to work through behavioral issues, anxiety, and aggression.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), which focuses on goal setting, building upon past successes, and small steps towards solutions.

I can also integrate Christian beliefs and principles in the treatment process if that skill is desired.

About Me:

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Youth and Family Ministry from Manhattan Christian College. I am currently seeking my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health at Liberty University in pursuit of obtaining my LPC license. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, playing games, being active, exploring new things and good food.

I have extensive experience working with youth since 2008 in various capacities including youth ministry, mentoring, leading support groups for teens who have experienced trauma and who have been exposed to substance abuse within their family. Currently, I am an elementary SPED teacher in Metairie.

While I have a bevy of experience working with youth, I am compassionate about helping all people. I have experience mentoring young adults through life challenges and transitions. Through education, support groups, and past work experience, I have some experience in helping those in the early stage of addiction.

I am motivated to see growth in every individual I counsel, and would be happy to be a part of your next step towards becoming all you were created to be.
